Saudi officials say only those who have been vaccinated against Cod 19 will be allowed to perform Umrah during Ramadan.
During Ramadan, however, foreign visitors will not be able to perform Umrah because Saudi Arabia has suspended international flights until May 17.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has said that only those who have been vaccinated against Corona Virus will be allowed to perform Umrah and pray during the month of Ramadan at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Corona vaccination will also be a condition for visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
A statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj said that only three categories of people will be allowed to perform Umrah. The first is those who have taken both doses of the corona vaccine. Second, those who received the first dose of the vaccine 14 days ago, and third, those who have recovered from the coronavirus.
The statement further said that permits for performing Umrah, Ziarat, and prayers in Masjid-ul-Haram and Masjid-e-Nabawi will be issued through the prescribed apps. For Umrah, people will be able to determine the date and time of the visit with the help of the specified apps.
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released two apps for this, “Tawakalna” and “Etemarna”. Admission to the two holy shrines for Umrah, prayers, and Taraweeh prayers will be possible only through these apps.
Other restrictions announced by the Saudi Ministry of Umrah include a mandatory mask at all times and only 18- to 50-year-olds will be allowed to perform Umrah, while social discrimination must be maintained. ۔
Last month, the Saudi government announced that there would be no Iftar gatherings or I’tikaf at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina during Ramadan.
