The Significance of water Zamzam
There are many types of water in the world, but Allah, the Creator of water, has given the water of Zamzam a superiority over all of them which He has not given to anyone else.
No special care is taken in the drinking of ordinary water and no special blessing is expected, but Zamzam water is drunk in the hope of blessing, just as carrying ordinary water is considered a hassle and a burden. But the water of Zamzam is taken by pilgrims from city to city with love and affection as if it is considered being an excellent “gift of Hajj”.
The water of Zamzam was released in the form of a miracle in the barren desert of Makkah a thousand years ago to quench the thirst of Ishmael, the infant son of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Hajra, which continues this day, It is a great example of Allah’s greatness.
Aab Zam Zam which is in the basement of the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, about 21 meters southeast of the Kaaba, the largest Well (chashma) of the Zamzam water is near the Black Stone. Apart from the place of Azan, Zamzam fountains also come from different places of Safa and Marwa.
Until 1953, it was extracted from the well of Zamzam through a bucket, but now water Zamzam fountains have been installed at different places inside and outside the Masjid Haram. It is also common in Masjid-e-Nabawi and pilgrims to carry this water with them all over the world. The Saudi government has used modern techniques to further expand Zamzam’s reserves and take it in many directions. Zam’s well used to draw this water through a bucket, but now it is available in Makkah and Madinah through new dispensing containers. The new dispenser is technically very modern and extremely useful.
The water of Zamzam is both a cure for the sick and a supplication. According to tradition, it is a cure for many ailments. Many scholars have also practiced and experimented with the hadith that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Zamzam water is for whatever it is drunk for.
In Saheeh Muslim, the Holy Prophet The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) when he stayed behind the curtains of the Ka’bah for 40 days and nights and his food was only Zamzam. He replied, “I have been like this for 30 days and nights.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Who used to take care of your food?” He said, “I only had Zamzam.” All my hunger and weakness were gone. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that Zamzam is undoubtedly a blessing and food for the eater. In modern times, research is underway on the merits of Zamzam. What a great gift a miracle is for Muslims. Only a Muslim can understand this, but even today great physicians and researchers are amazed at the power and properties of Zamzam and how many powers Allah has endowed this water with.
There are medicinal elements on which even medical science is amazed. Zamzam is the only water in the world that does not produce any kind of smell. The importance and virtue of Zamzam is also mentioned in the hadiths. A clear miracle of this water is that it has been continuing since day one, but this fountain does not dry up.
For those who are familiar with the rocky valleys of Makkah and the rocky mountains, it is even more surprising that where there are no water, water, and reservoirs in the distance, there is Zamzam. The well is not only flowing but the number of its drinkers is also increasing. Yet, by the power of Allah, there is no shortage of Zamzam. Pilgrims take it with them all over the world. Surprisingly, this water never goes bad.
