Saudi Arabia Lifts Age Limit on Foreign Umrah pilgrims
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced the lifting of limitations on Umrah pilgrimages imposed in the aftermath of the COVID-19. The Ministry has removed the maximum age limit of 50 years as a requirement for pilgrims traveling from outside Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
Previously, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah only allowed Muslims aged 18 to 50 to perform Umrah, as well as worship at the Grand Mosque and Al-Rawdah Sharif at the Prophet’s Mosque and visit the Prophet’s tomb following the easing of regulations that were enforced during the outbreak of coronavirus. All of our Umrah Packages 2022 are tailored to meet the budget and schedule of our Muslim brothers and sisters. The elderly foreign pilgrims can now come to perform Umrah under the new rules, which are following the preventative precautions and preventive protocols in place to halt the spread of coronavirus.
Ban Continues for the Overseas Pilgrims Under the Age of 18
Overseas pilgrims under the age of 18 would be denied the opportunity to perform Umrah. Domestic pilgrims aged 12 and above who have received two doses of coronavirus vaccination would be allowed to perform Umrah and worship at the Two Holy Mosques. Authorities have omitted the recommendation to maintain social distance, however, things like mask understanding should be followed. According to authorities, entry will be granted only after verification of vaccine status and proof that the vaccine has been properly administered.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has begun issuing permits for Umrah pilgrimage and also access to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah for pilgrims arriving from outside the Kingdom via the Eatmarna and Tawakkalna apps, which are downloaded on pilgrims’ smartphones. Previously, pilgrims coming to perform Umrah from outside Saudi Arabia, had to get permits from the Saudi Umrah agency to attend the pilgrimage sites. Permits can now be acquired without the involvement of these intermediaries. Those who have already installed both applications will need to update again for the service to be available, according to officials. They must, however, register their details on the Khudum site. Only individuals who register in this method are eligible for the permission, which is obtained through two applications.
Following a nearly two-year break, King Salman’s directive to use the full capacity of the Two Holy Mosques, as well as the recent removal of the travel restriction, will be a significant boost to the influx of international Umrah pilgrims in the coming season.
