Islam is a Religion of Peace and Security
The world was dark before Islam, oppression was everywhere, peace and order were not something like it. Sometimes in the name of the race, sometimes in the name of language and civilization, and sometimes in the guise of patriotism and nationality, humanity was divided into pieces. And the pieces crashed in such a way that mankind screamed. If you study the history of that time, you will realize that the whole world was full of unrest. Whether it is a backward region or a developed and civilized world, Rome and Europe or Iran and India, the Red Czar of Ajam or the desert of Arabia The whole world was engulfed in this fire. Before Islam, many religious leaders and moralists sang songs of peace and love on their own and tried to cool the fire with their moral sermons, which had good results, but this could not be completely overcome.
The world of formal peace and love was initially provided by Islam with a sustainable rule of conduct, named “Islam,” the religion of permanent peace and security. Any other religion in the world does not match this distinction. Islam started a new chapter of peace and tranquility on strong foundations and tried to expand it with full intellectual and moral strength and intellectual height, the trend of peace and order in the world today and each class in its own right is looking for a cradle of peace is largely due to Islamic teachings.
Instructions for peace and tranquility in Islam
In a society where there is no peace, the people living in this area are directly affected. Before Islam, human lives had no value, but Islam gave human life such dignity and respect that is considered the murder of one human being as the murder of all humanity. It is in the Holy Qur’an “That is why We commanded the Children of Israel that whoever kills a human being for no reason other than life or for any cause other than causing mischief on the earth, it is as if he has killed all humanity and whoever Recognizing the greatness and respect of a human soul is like giving new life to the whole of humanity.” Based on this universal concept, the Qur’an declares the believers to be the most deserving and pioneers of peace. The Almighty says:
“Who is more entitled to peace between the two parties (Muslim and non-Muslim)?” If you know, then tell those who are believers and those who have kept their faith free from oppression and polytheism, peace is for those people and they are on the right path. ”
Apart from murder and bloodshed, Islam strongly dislikes sedition, terrorism, and false rumors. It calls it an aggressive and barbaric act. The Almighty says:
“Do not cause mischief in the land after reform.”
“Allah does not like miscreants”
There are several verses in the Qur’an on this subject. Peace is a great blessing. The Qur’an mentions it as a divine gift. The importance of peace in Islam can be gauged from the fact that the birthplace of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (Haram Mecca) was declared the cradle of peace. The hadiths also contain a number of instructions regarding maintaining peace and order on earth. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) described the sign of “the believer” as the one who does not cause any harm to anyone for no reason. Hazrat Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet said:
“A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe and a believer is one from whom there is no danger to people’s lives and property.”
It is narrated in Bukhari from Hazrat Abu Hurayrah:
” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: By Allah! One cannot be a believer. By Allah, one cannot be a believer. Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, who cannot be a believer?” He said, “From whose evil his neighbors are not safe.” (Bukhari: Hadith No. 2)
There are many such traditions in the books of hadith, which include avoiding oppression, living a peaceful life, paying the dues of others, avoiding sedition and spreading goodness, participating in good deeds, and being a peace-loving person on earth. Creating a pleasant and positive atmosphere, generosity and tolerance towards ordinary people (regardless of their religion or nationality) and respect for the religious traditions and personalities of every religion and nation are strongly encouraged. Also in this regard, the valuable “scientific” examples of the Prophet’s era are in addition to them.
Here are some examples of peace and order from Muslim history
These moral and legal principles and the scientific principles of the prophet era have all been given full priority by the Muslim Ummah, and they have built their identity as a peaceful nation on earth. For this purpose, the Muslims have been generous to non-Muslims, have spared no effort to respect their rights and sentiments, and have made every effort to ensure that the peace process is not affected in any way, even if it means Why not make a big sacrifice. It is the result of these efforts of the Muslims that there is no trace of sectarian riots and bloody riots in the centuries-old history of the Muslims. What greater proof could there be of Muslims being pacifists?
Here are some examples from different periods of Islamic rule:
The Regime of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (RA)
The most precious period of Islamic history after the Prophethood عہد It is the reign of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq. Although full of emergencies, the early part of this era is primarily external. There was no disturbance internally in the country and a climate of total tolerance and kindness, especially among non-Muslims. Thus the countries that were conquered during the reign of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq The rights of the non-Muslim population were fully respected there. After the victory, it was agreed with the Christians that their monasteries and churches would not be demolished, their palaces would not be demolished, in which case they would be fortified against their enemies in times of need. And there will be no ban on the ringing of bells, no prohibition on the crucifixion on the occasion of the festival, the same agreement stipulates that the dhimmis here will be allowed to wear all kinds of clothing except military clothing, Provided that they do not try to imitate Muslims.
During his caliphate, the hand of a non-Muslim woman was cut off by a Muslim officer only for the crime of singing poems in Muslim satire. Hazrat Siddiq Akbar warned the officer that if the woman was a Muslim she should have been given a minor punishment and if she was a dhimmi, then when we forgave her for her disbelief and polytheism, so it was something inferior to that.
The reign of Hazrat Farooq Azam
The era of Hazrat Farooq Azam has a special status in the history of world governance. This commitment is exemplary in terms of development and prosperity of the country, restoration of law and order, internal security, foreign policy, increase in production, inventions and discoveries, and scientific research. After Hazrat Farooq, Chashma Falak never saw such a beautiful era of government on this land in which everyone felt safe and progressive, and full tolerance was maintained with non-Muslim minorities besides Muslims.
When Jerusalem was conquered during his reign, an agreement was reached with the people there in the presence of Umar Farooq himself: This is the edict which the servant of God, Amir al-mu’minin, gave to the people of Elijah. That their wealth is for the church, the cross, the sick, the poor, and all their religion. So that their churches will not be inhabited, nor will they be demolished, nor will they be harmed, nor will their premises be damaged, nor will their crosses and their possessions be diminished. They will not be persecuted for their religion. Anyone among the Elijah who wants to move with the Greeks with his life and property is at peace with them and their churches and crosses. Until he reaches his place of refuge and what is in this writing is the responsibility of God, the Prophet, the Caliphs, and the Muslims, as long as they continue to pay the prescribed Jizyah.” (Al-Farooq, Shibli 2/3)
Once the Christian king of Ghassan came to meet Hazrat Omar, then by chance a Bedouin inadvertently pushed him and the king got angry and beaten him. On the complaint of the Arabs, Hazrat Omar decided to hit the king, to which the king replied: O Commander of the Faithful! Is there any place where a common man touches a king? Hazrat Omar replied: This is the law of Islam. The rich and the poor, the King and the subjects are all equal in the matter of Justice, according to Islam.
When Alexandria was conquered in 3 AH, there was a picture of Jesus. The image is undesirable in Islam. On this basis, a Muslim soldier shot the eye of Jesus with his arrow. The Christians were troubled by this, due to which the Christians again demanded a lawsuit from Hazrat Umar and Ibn Aas to make a picture of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and give it to them. So that they can also open one of their eyes? Hazrat Amr replied: What is the need for a picture? We are there Tear off any eye you want! Then he put his dagger in the hand of a Christian and opened his eyes. On hearing this, the dagger fell from the hand of the Christian and he withdrew from his claim saying: “It is cruel and disrespectful to take revenge on a nation which is so brave and generous”.
Thus the entire history of Islamic rule is replete with incidents of peace and tolerance. No history in the world can offer such wonderful examples. Today the governments of the world need to learn from this and try to create a beautiful society with these beautiful patterns in mind.
